lately Whenever i try to download a file bigger then 10gb it will randomly freeze the download and whatever client was downloading it will freeze.(for example i was downloading through uplay and my download stopped and when i tried to pause the download. uplay stopped working too.) The biggest issue with this is whenever it happens my computer is unable to turn off and will just sit at black screen with my computer still running. This has also happened to me with steam and the windows 10 store so i don't think its uplays fault. i also never get any type of error message when this happens.

wasn't really sure what category this would go under...

Well, unfortunately the answer is - most probably you can't do anything to repair it. Once a hard drive starts to fail this is insatiable, no matter how long it takes for it to die completely. That's why I've recommended that you backup your data ASAP. If that HDD is still under warranty, go ahead and contact the vendor you got it from, or the manufacturer so that you can RMA it.

Please keep me posted if anything else comes up.
Hey there, justienyo.

Does this happen only when you download something, or does it happen when you transfer files to that drive as well. I'm asking as this is somewhat typical behaviour whenever there might be a fault of some sort with the drive you're using to write the information. That's why my first suggestion would be to backup your important files, just to be on the safe side. After that, go ahead and download the HDD/SSD manufacturer's diagnostic tool and run the tests to see if there's anything out of the ordinary with the drive. I nothing suspicious pops-up, you could give it a try with a different SATA port and different cables, to see if the issue still persists.

Hope that helps. Please let me know how everything goes.
