i have a WDC Blue and when i restart my computer and boots up, the last bios time is around 11-11.5. when i do shutdown and startup manually, my last bios time goes up to 12.5-13.5 and then i feel like everytime after i game, my last bios time gets slightly higher. is this normal?

Solution
From a cold boot, the system is waiting for your hard drive to fully spin up. It is already spinning from restart, which is why you are achieving a faster boot time.

For the other responses here, this is not at all related to the CMOS battery or CMOS clock. the "Last BIOS time" is a feature in Windows 8+ in the task manager that shows how much time has elapsed from the PC passing the BIOS screen to what the system considers fully booted.
No, this is not normal. It sounds like your CMOS battery may need to be replaced. Open your rig up and look for a round silver watch battery, it should be in a clamp that you can pull open. The first thing I would do is replace this battery. You can find any battery like it at any store.

From there, once its installed and you confirmed its working, reset the BIOS and update the time. That should fix your issue.

i dont think this should be the solution because my motherboard is only less than a year old so the cmos battery is less than a year old. i made a new thread because i didnt get the solution

Oh my god thebest21445, that the motherboard is only 1 year old doesn't mean that the CMOS battery is 1 year old too, it might be defective. If you think you know so much for you to say that it's not the battery then why bother asking on some forums? If it's already not working properly, it can't hurt to try something to fix it. You'd be surprised how many times it's happened to me that a totally unrelated thing is causing the problem. And from the sound of it, it doesn't sound like you're very experienced. GOD! YOU ARE ANNOYING....

for some reason now my bios time is still fluctuating from 11.6-14.9. pretty weird.

how old is hdd and what make/model is it?

i don't take a lot of notice of it, why are you looking at it? is boot slow after that too? how many start up programs do you have? try disabling any high start up effect apps that you don't need. Only one I let run is Onedrive, i killed steam, skype and the software for my mouse as it has it built in.

hdd is less than a year old WDC Blue 7200rpm 64mb cache. i had tested disabling all my stuff in my startup and still no effect. is this motherboard problem or hard drive problem

did you need to update your motherboard when u got it? also if i do update, will it set everything to default?
