Here's what I'm planning on ordering in a few weeks on Amazon.

Case: Cooler Master HAF 912: $55

Hard Drive: Seagate Barracuda 500 GB 7200RPM: $40

Burner: ASUS 24X DVD Burner: $20

Processor: Intel i3-2100: $125

Graphics Card: EVGA GeForce GTX 550 Ti FPB: $135

Motherboard: GIGABYTE GA-Z68A-D3-B3: $80

Power Supply: Antec EarthWatts EA-380D Green: $40

RAM: Corsair Vengeance 4 GB: $40

Total: $535

I just want to make sure the parts will fit and are compatible with one another. Thanks in advance.

I can't see any problems.

Some people might complain about the PSU, but I would ignore them if I was you, especially if they tell you to get the Corsair CX430 instead, as it is no more powerful than the Antec EA-380D and is less high quality IMO. It is certainly less efficient and has fewer cables.
Obviously if you ever want to run a graphics card that requires more than one PCIe connector then it might be wise to invest in a PSU now that already has more than one.

You look to be in the same boat as me. I am also pricing out a $500 gaming system and I stumbled upon this card after looking at the nvidia GTX 550 Ti:

your build is ok, but a few possible options:

you could get a HD6850 for $25 more by doing this:

Rosewill R101 case ($30, w/ free shipping), saves $25
Xigmatek PC402 400W PSU ($35), Saves $5
Blue LED 120mm fan: $6 (for intake)
80 mm fan (for side instead of vent): $3
Mushkin 4 GB RAM: $31 (Saves $9)

just use your old one from your previous PC or Monitor, power cords are basically all the same
