Last minute questions pre purchase

So I was putting some parts together in my cart, because in all honesty I'm being hounded to purchase my computer already. I noticed newegg has a shell shocker deal for 8gb ram. I don't know the difference between buying 1 8gb stick and buying 2 sticks of 4gb (dual channel confusion). Is there anything I should know before forking out money for ram in general? I know 1333 won't void a cpu warranty. It says 1.5v in the description so I don't think there should be any compatibility issues

50 dollars worth of promo discount codes and $35 in MIR too. Free shipping on all items.

I can't figure out which video card I want so I may just use the onboard video to test out all the components and order that within a week. Another thing worth mentioning is that there's a modular corsair 1000w power supply for sale around the same price 129.99 after MIR, maybe I should buy that instead? Dunno if it would fit inside the case. Lastly, how does that monitor I've selected look? It doesn't flat out list the refresh rate but instead the verticle min/max along with the horizontal so it seems to be around 75hz or so.

It would be intended for gaming and to a lesser degree some video editing.

Looks like that alternate corsair psu sold out. Deactivated or a price mistake I suppose.

As many people tend to do, and as I almost did, they buy a PSU that is more wattage than needed. I could run my system on a good 450W PSU, but I got a 600W. Why? Future Upgrades. In your case. 1000W is WAY too much. 450-650W is plently for any non Xfire/SLI system. Some reputable brands to look for are Corsair, XFX, OCZ, and I'm sure there are more which someone will no doubt correct me on. That's a nice i5, but if you don't intend to OC, drop down to a 2400. If you do intend to OC, you will need to invest in an aftermarket heatsink.
