[SOLVED] Late 2009 iMac with Firewire external drive

What could be the issue? The firewire ports are fried, the firewire cable could be bad or the firewire port on your Mac is toast. Hold the option key and click on the apple menu and select "System Information" look under the USB section when plugged in via USB then switch the cable and look under firewire. You will note under USB that the drive should show up. You should see the same when plugged in with a firewire cable if firewire is working.
