Approximately a month ago I started experiencing some issues with my home build. My system was assembled approximately a year ago and had no issues up until then. In March it started POSTing correctly and then crashing while booting the OS. As part of some online troubleshooting I found, I went ahead and cleared the CMOS. After doing this, I started seeing debug code "D0", which for my mobo means Late CPU Initialization. I tried the usual troubleshooting techniques and wound up RMAing the board. I just got my board back (looks like they sent me a new board), hooked everything back up as slowly as possible, and still got the same error. For troubleshooting, I tried:
1. Checking the CPU seating (no damaged pins, everything looks good; still D0 when powering-on)
2. Checking the spacers (no "extra" spacers screwed in; no change)
3. Removing the graphics card and all but one stick of RAM (I tried one of my 4 sticks in all 8 slots, then I picked a second stick and tried it in all 8 slots; no change)
4. Replacing the CPU power cable (no change)
5. Clearing the CMOS (again; no change)
The next thing I'm doing is getting a DMM from a buddy so I can double-check the PSU and make sure there's nothing strange going on there. Beyond that, I'm out of ideas. What troubleshooting steps am I missing?
