Hi. I live in an apartment which includes "high speed" internet in the rent. Even though my download and upload speeds are terrible, I have the biggest issue with my latency. Normally I would get 10-20ms to Chicago, but now I get 60ms to Chicago at best. This makes games basically unplayable on high spiking ping in addition to my slow download and upload. I attached a traceroute and it shows spikes in ping with the 4th hop which look to be a node from my ISP. I tried contacting them directly and they just made sure I was receiving internet and that's all they cared about.
I just want to know if there is anything on my end that I could fix to reduce latency. Our apartment has a motorola modem/router combo (MG7550) which connects to the internet through a coax cable. I am connecting directly to the router via ethernet. Thanks.
