Latency or Voltage

Hi Guys, I'm building a new gaming PC from scratch based on a 1150 Haswell design.

I think I understand that 1600Mhz is the best I need in terms of frequency but would I be better off with;

a) 4 x 8GB 1600Mhz, CL8, 1.5v

OR

b) 4x 8GB 1600Mhz, CL9, 1.35v

Thanks in advance guys :D

Solution
Haswell is perfectly fine up to 2600 MHz or faster if you want to try for it with a 4770k. usually 1866 kits aren't much if any more expensive than the 1600 kits which is why I brought it up. You do NOT want to mix 4 single 8gb sticks in a system I'd be surprised if they all played nice together. Buy a kit its not even really a choice. but there are several 1866 CL9 kits that would work very well with your setup. The difference won't be massive by any stretch but it won't hurt anything either.

first kit, lower voltage is really only useful if you plan to do a fanless rig, or plan to oc (lower voltage means you can likely get more out of them when you dump 1.65 v at them) I suspect the cl9 1.35v kit can probably do cl8 with 1.5v however so its really kind of a wash. I would consider some CL 8 or 9 1866 memory if you can find some around the same price however.

Thanks guys.

Would it make a difference if I added that;

a) Crucial, 4 individual sticks so possible compatibility issues
b) Kingston, 4 stick pack (so known to be compatible with each other)

I could find lots of CL 9 1866Mhz but I thought that it wasn't compatible with Haswell? Can you please explain how I am able to use that? And if I am able to go for ever faster CL9 Mhz for any perceivable advantage?

Thanks for your help so far :D

All of this VERY HELPFUL info has led me to 3 choices in my price range (I want to use CCL as I have before and they are awesome)

a) Patriot Viper 3 (Black Mamba): 4 x 8GB 2133Mhz, CL9, 1.5V (£317)
b) Corsair Vengence Pro: 4 x 8GB 1866Mhz CL9, 1.5V (£289)
c) G.Skill Trident X 4 x 8GB 2400Mhz, CL10, 1.65V (£284)

My concerns with the first one is I don't know if Patriot is a good brand, my concern with the last one is high Latency and Voltage. Any last word advice on my final choice?

Thanks :D x

Out of those kits to me it would be a no brainer for the Tridents, they are cheaper, faster, and if you clock them to 2133 they will do CL9, and possibly CL 8 at 1866 if you choose to go that route. I would also bet you $$ you can run them at rated specs with less than 1.65v if that voltage worries you.
