Asrock only had the AGESA 1.0.0.4 up as a Beta BIOS so it's no surprise it is still being evaluated before it becomes a permanent validated BIOS update. It's understood that a Beta BIOS may have issues.

AMD were previously rumoured to be using a defective Ryzen 9 chipsets where only a single core was operable and classifying them as Ryzen 5 and Ryzen 7 parts. Were quite a few articles at the time after Der Bauer came across one. Reducing waste etc etc

The latest bios version also makes the 5950 unstable with any undervolting, matter of fact I had to increase all cores by 10 in curve optimizer.

That's why while some people praise AMD for being very active in improving their BIOs, I actually feel it is a double-edged sword. The more people fiddle with something that is not broken, the more they will break something. It is just a matter of the seriously of things they break. Therefore, I would also recommend that people don't upgrade their BIOS with some promise of improvements. If nothing is broken, then don't fix it.

This is my stance as well, and has always been. I don’t change it unless I am experiencing a specific problem that the new version fixes or if I’m adding new hardware that’s supported. And others say security is an issue but that’s not really a big issue.

Quick, someone get AMD some QA for their software developers. First it was drivers that overclocked your machine, now they are disabling functionality with a firmware update.
