Latest Java Update not installing correctly

I have a website that I need to get on to but whenever I sign in it just stalls. I have been told to update my Java but when I do that it doesn't go through. When I get onto the Java website I try the test and it I still have the old version.

Anybody have any ideas on why this is happening?? I will try uninstalling and reinstalling the new version and see if that is my problem. Also this is only in Internet Explorer.

If you have already tried going to start > control panel > program's and features, try Microsoft fix it, the java website reccomends it.

Thanks for the suggestion but that didn't work. After a while of messing around I found out that "Active X Filtering" was checked on the Google Toolbar and that was the problem. I unchecked the setting and I could finally log on.
