Latest NVIDIA GPU Driver killed my performance

This problem didn't begin happening until today, but my friend with a 1080 ti was experiencing this the day before me. I did not install any drivers recently until I started having the problems. In Overwatch I was getting about 135 fps on average... now I get about 90 fps but then when I shoot it makes my game freeze for a split second. I tried installing the latest driver from geforce experience, it made my game go back to the usual fps. I restart my computer and then it returns to the 90 fps with the game freezing when I shoot. I thought maybe it was just Overwatch being the problem considering a new patch came out the day before. I go onto CSGO... normally I get 300fps on max settings. Now I was barely getting 100. I look on my CAM Software from NZXT and see that my GPU usage was maxed out at 63C even when I turned my settings all the way down in CSGO, I may be wrong, the gpu might always be at 99% when playing games. So then I go to NVIDIA's website directly to download the driver. I chose custom installation and clean reinstall or something like that. I chose clean install since when I had problems with my GPU before I chose that and it started working again. If anything it made my game performance worse. I have exhausted anything that I can think of to try and fix it.

Does anyone have any suggestions?
Please help...

Even a clean install wont completely wipe old drivers. Use DDU to do it, from safe mode (use DDUs boot into safe mode and remove) then install the latest from NVidia's website. If that doesn't work, do it again, but roll back your drivers to where they worked properly.

I did what you suggested and it made the performance better to about 100 fps in Overwatch and not freeze when I shoot. I still have to see if it is any better in CSGO.

I recently had a 5 hour long conversation with a NVIDIA customer support rep. I eventually had to go to EVGA to submit a ticket. Heres what I wrote since I dont feel like rephrasing it for the post.

Starting 2 days ago I was having problems while playing games such as Counter Strike and Overwatch. I have tried to resolve my issues with NVIDIA customer support but were unsuccessful. Let me explain what happened. This started this Thursday when my average fps was 150 on high settings in Overwatch. The next day I started having 70-75 fps, this may not be a problem with people with 60hz monitors, but because I have a 144hz one I want to use it to the full extent. This also began with Counter Strike, I would get an average of 300 fps on maximum settings, but now I barely get 120 fps. During those two days I did not download any new software or updates. I also made sure to run an antivirus scan to see if that was the problem (which it was not). My system specifications are at the bottom of the post

I'm going to go through what NVIDIA customer support told me to go through. I went and tested my game performance between every option we went through with Overwatch and Counter Strike.
- Try reinstalling drivers through Geforce Experience (didn't work)
- Tried doing a clean install through Geforce Experience (didn't work)
- Went through the NVIDIA control panel to try and optimize some of the settings to see if it makes an impact (didn't work)
- Rolled back the drivers (didn't work)
- Went into Safe Mode to do a DDU uninstall of the previous drivers and install the drivers directly from NVIDIA's website along with using the clean install as well while downloading the drivers (didn't work)
- Ran a video card stability test to have the software crash multiple times within a hour of trying to run it (didn't work)
- Moved my GPU between all PCI slots in my motherboard (didn't work)

And here I am, where I got to the point with the customer support told me to go to my manufacturer and see what else could be done. I'm begging you. Please. I've spent the last five hours with NVIDIA customer support to have no results whatsoever along barely any money to buy any new parts for my PC. I saw that there was a 3 year warranty, but I dont remember paying for a warranty though Amazon, I bought my GPU about 9 months ago. Whatever is possible to fix or replace my graphics card would be very appreciated since I have to create content with my PC.

That lookslike a good ticket to me, and EVGA tends to have legendary costumer support (I heard about a guy who tried to SLI two completly different GPUs, one of which was EVGA, and he got two new ones for free, although I cant confirm how true this is). Good luck with EVGA

Thanks... hopefully I get the same customer service....

If it was within a month, it was most likely new, but any replacement cards they do send are completely tested and "re certified", which is code for refurbished. However, if your card isn't working, one that went through all of EVGAs tests and passed is certainly better. What will probably happen to the old card is that it too will be fixed, get re certified, and sent out as an RMA replacement.
