[SOLVED] Latest Patch Tuesday Update Error 0x800f0986 for KB4565351

Has anyone else experienced this error with the latest Windows update for August 11? "2020-08 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1909 for x64-based Systems (KB4565351) - Error 0x800f0986"

I went through the troubleshooting steps including DISM.exe and SFC and yet this patch continues to give the same error. One thing to note - my wife has the same exact laptop (HP ENVY x360) that I have and her patches installed without any errors.

I would try updating your SSU if you haven't recently -- available for your x64 version from HERE. Yours could have somehow missed a recent servicing stack update and installing this one gets you current and it will only install if you need it. Then retry the other update.

Thank you for the reply. Prior to your response, I performed an in-place Windows 10 upgrade which solved my problem. However, I was not pleased that the in-place upgrade installed version 2004 feature update instead of version 1909. That said - the system seems to be running alright on version 2004 so far.
