Hello,
I recently bought a Sony LCD monitor (SDM-S53). It has its ups (no geometry problems, vivid, bright, slick) , but I noticed that text doesn't appear as crisp as it was on CRT and somtimes borders of text have this purple tone (it's not significant but it's still visible) instead of a normal tone (for example :blue border for blue text, etc.) is it a common issue for LCD monitors? Is there a way to reduce it?

I think that it is font smoothing. You are probably using Windows XP. Right-click on the desktop, and click Properties > Appearance > Effects and take a look at the settings for font smoothing. Try the different settings, and see what works best.

Sounds like the moniter may also have poor color reproduction or the color settings are incorrect. Try exploring the osd.
