The whole idea behind my new system is to run games at 16x12 or higher.
I looked at LCDs that can support this and did not find a decent one below $550
Plus it is limited at 16x12 and can go no higher

For a gamer who seeks ultra high res on his games, would crt be the best way to go or should he save up the money for a LCD capable of running at these res?

All LCD's have a recomended resolution, and should be run at this for best quality. Of course they all will run lower resolutions using scaling, at sacrifice of quality.
I just got a Dell 2405FPW that supports way higher res than 16x12, and at 12ms, but cost close to $900

I have a VS PF790 and like it well.
It supports up to a 2048x1536 res, but I commonly run it at 1360x1024 @ 85htz.

Surprised to see none of those at newegg support high refresh rates on those 19" monitors, all are mid range or lower line monitors, but should do fine at 1280x1024 @ 85htz.

My Dell 2405 arrives today, what do you think of them??

Can't wait 😛

I've been WoWed!!!! 😱

These are amazing.. was playing HL2 1920x1200 everything full 2xAA last night... god the graphics looked sweet.

Its a wonder the 9800 can handle it!!

Note: With An LCD The xxHz Refresh Means Nothing (Its Irellevant) And Not All LCDs Are Bad At Scaling Due To The .23mm Dot Pitch (EXTREMELY Rare For And LCD) My Silicon Graphics 1600sw (17.4" 16:10 Wide-Screen, 1600x1024 Native Res) Scales Smotthy (No Jaggies Or Lost Details) Clear Down To 800x600 (Who In There Right Mind Would Run A Game THAT Low Anywayse?)
