Question LCD Lifespan & Long-term Storage

We recently closed an office, and took the left-behind LCD monitors back to our main office for storage. They're decent widescreen monitors which we expect to re-use in about 1-2 years time, so we're not keen on selling now and re-buying again later.

But we are worried the monitors might degrade over time even if they're not used? I ask because one of my own LCD screen started 'bubbling' after a few years of storage.

Also, is there any "good" versus "bad" storage practices - besides the obvious keep in a cool and dry place, out of sunlight?

Thanks for any help.

Try and package them in their original boxes. If you've thrown them away then the best thing you can do is try and keep the monitors in a dry/cool environment to prevent moisture from causing havoc to the circuitry. Well, if you have vats of silica gel balls, then that should help retain moisture from the monitors. Having the monitor draped in fabric/cloth is a bad idea as that will wick more moisture than you need from the atmosphere.

Thanks for your advice, besides the circuitry, I'm also wondering if the LCD 'bulbs' will continue to degrade over time even if they're not powered on?

Sorry I'm not too technical so don't understand much about LCD lifespan, just had a prior experience where an unused LCD started 'bubbling' after awhile so worried.

Cheers
