Can a cable of 15' or 20' be used with a DVI-I LCD monitor? Would using DVI rather than analog permit a longer cable or require a shorter cable? What's the maximum cable length possible without problems for both analog and DVI?

Thanks for the help!

Cheers!

I have run RGBHV video up to 100’ at trade shows etc. The key is to use a single piece cable (DO NOT USE EXTENSION CABLES). Use a cable that you know uses 75ohm mini coax for the RGB signals. The HV signals are very low frequency TTL Digital so twisted pair is fine for these.

For DVI cables again make certain you use a single piece cable, no extensions and you should be OK at 15” to 20’.

Jim,
Thanks for the info! Didn't want to buy an LCD monitor for this specific purpose if it would end up not working because of cable length. Also, checked your site, and have bookmarked as supplier. Will look there first if I go ahead with monitor purchase (to be used on music desk of my acoustic piano).

Cheers!
