It depends on the specific model and best for what?

I generally tend to focus my knowledge on larger size / higher end monitors so I probably will not be able to recommend anything to you.

Both monitors will be mostly based on a TN panel and so would give out similar color performance and picture quality.. You can safely get the one which looks best to you.. Personally though, i'd rate samsung displays a notch above viewsonic..
