Lcd problem

I have a Flatscreen acer al5121 and shows power getting to it i.e.
lights go on and off when u press power button and it also goes into
sleep mode but i get no screen whatsoever. I am sure if i look closely
enough i can see an image in the background (not screen burn in).

Now if i open it up and put it back together it works fine for a
couple of minutes then goes back to the same old problem. Wonder if
anybody had come across this before?

It's possible that the backlight's gone out. Shine a flashlight on the screen and see if you can see your normal desktop via the reflection. If so, then it means the backlight's gone and needs to be replaced.
