I bought a Leadtek WinFast GT 1030 last December for some light gaming. My CPU is a Core 2 Duo E7500, I have 4GB of RAM, and my motherboard is an Intel DG41RQ. So starting this month, my HDMI port stopped working randomly. Tested out all the cables and they seemed to be fine. I took the GPU to the store I bought it from and asked for an RMA.

They refused, saying that one of the components on the board was burned, and apparently warranty doesn't cover burns. I took a closer look and noticed it was indeed burned, but the component seemed easily replaceable. The guy at the store was telling me to have it repaired at their shop, which I realized would void my warranty. Also, having it repaired at their shop would cost me money.

I should mention that where I live, stores often try to trick people into paying extra, or getting out of the issue without doing anything. They would deny a warranty where it was applicable. So I was wondering whether or not the guy was trying to cheat me. Does anyone here have any experience with Leadtek warranty?

Another important point is, all I did was play a few video games, and only rendered a few videos, without overclocking. My weaka$$ GT 610 was able to handle rendering. And no, I didn't use it for mining. Mining is illegal where I live.

TL;DR Bought a Leadtek GPU, it burned out after 4 months. Shop clerk said Leadtek doesn't cover burned out GPUs, so they don't wanna take it in. Wanna know whether or not Leadtek really doesn't cover this.

I contacted the shop clerk because, through the store, I wouldn't have had to pay for shipping for RMA. That's part of the deal when I bought from them. Also, I contacted the GPU manufacturer and they claim that because the component is burned, warranty doesn't cover it. Here is what they said about the GPU:

"Dear Customer,

We have been noticed by our factory. By checking the photo, the visible physical damage on the card actually makes the official warranty invalid. But they can try to receive it for advanced hardware checking, if the damage was not deeply hurt to the PCB, it may be able to fix by chances.

You can try to request the RMA service, but our factory does not promise it can be 100% repaired. We hope you can know the explanation. Thanks."

It doesn't sound very professional in the first place, and the English is very unclear. Has anyone faced a similar situation? I searched around a lot, but didn't find anything about whether or not a burned component in the GPU voids warranty.
