lol. This is slower than their 8 TB SATA SSD, which costs only $320. (Its price has dropped to that point several times this year, so I’m quoting that as its sales price.)

This doesn't make much sense, even if you figure a much lower USA cost. The VectoTech Rapid 8TB External SSD has been available on Amazon for 3 years and has been below $550 since July.

However, like Li pointed out above, it's significantly more expensive than the 8TV 870 QVO which is hitting around $350. Combine that with an inexpensive external enclosure, like the $12 one from Sabrent, and $10 on a protective case, and you have an 8TB portable SSD for less than half of the supposed price of the T5 Evo 8TB.

And external 8TB SSD at this speed would make for a good windows backup drive. 500 MB/s is way better than the slower speeds of a similarly sized hard drive.
