Hey Guys
I need some help, I have been given a project at work that requires me to learn Cisco switches.
I have been looking high and low for some training books or youtube videos that will help me learn how to work with a managed switch. I have never worked with them before.

Can some one provide me with some direction or help.

Note: I am not interested in getting my certs or anything just want to learn how to set up my network with managed switches.

I have been using Chris Bryants Video Boot Camp to learn to get my CCNA

I know you are not wanting to get CCNA but just configure it but you can pick and choose which videos to watch.

Sounds like another short-sighted business. They want their network setup on a budget and not willing to pay the $$ for a qualified person or pay the money to get their guy qualified because it costs more then they want to spend; of course not doing any cost analysis on how much the downtime costs for their guy to learn on their equipment and hopefully not do anything that cripples it. I mean no offense to you Kelly, I have no knowledge of your qualifications and ability to pickup on the...

@Grandmaster Thank you for your comment. Right now we are paying 750 per 24 port switch and we are paying 199 a month to have a company manage it. Times that by 13 times 12 months that's alot of money. the problem with this sluction is that the company has cut off all rights to us. We do not have passwords usernames or any control over the switches. We have to call them for everything. They have just become a cancer for us.

I see.

It is totally understandable then for you work to want in-house support for the equipment and not pay those high premiums.

Not getting you the proper training though could end up costing them much more in lost revenue plus the cost of outsourcing someone to come in and fix it.
You can assemble a lab, do the training videos and get your certification for less then $2k.
