Hi All!
So basically, I installed speed fan 4.5 for a little mess around, and when I selected my Aerocool Shark 140mm, something weird happens
when I clocked it to max, the brightness went up (and speed obviously, but not the point)
The brightness went up as if it was not getting enough power in the first place.
The fan is connected to the Mobo and is working epic as an exhaust fan, but LED's are not on max luminosity apparently...
Any help to get the fan to have LED's at max luminosity whilst keeping MOBO controlled speeds welcome :)
Mobo is ASRock Z87 fatal1ty Killer
haswell 4770k
CM Storm Trooper Case
Good day :)

Solution
The fan likely uses a simple series resistor to limit current through the LEDs and since the fan's speed is controlled by voltage, changing the fan's voltage also changes LED current. There is nothing you can do about that unless you want to hack the fan to provide the LEDs with a separate power feed.

I thought that something along the same kind of lines would be happening....well, Ill try to see away around it and if not, no point I guess :/

Completley not worth it XD

I hooked my fan up to a fan controller, increases voltage, makes the LED's brighter.
Unfortunately that also speeds up your Fan, so if you want to change the LED
separately then you will need to open up the fan and pull the LED cable out and attach it to
a user controllable voltage regulator.
Too much effort to be worth anything tbh :) Just get this :

Works a charm 😉
or get the NZXT Hue, works even better but at a much higher cost of course 😉 :

I am personally in the process of creating my own custom water cooling system and I thought about getting an LED strip, easy adn cheap and avoids usage of UV coolant tbh so that was on the list already XD
and as for the fan controller, my pc has one but I do not use it much, I just let the mobo control it after setting it to lowest speed in Mobo BIOS and setting a custom temprature

Best idea for low noise but decent airflow i guess :) Good luck with your Water Cooled rig!
