led illuminated switch for car?

Hi,

I'm thinking of adding a few switches (with built-in led light) to my car. I understand that I can wire such that the led is on whenever the dashlights are 'on' OR only on when the car is on AND the switch is in the on position.

Here's my question: is there a way (perhaps by using a resistor) that I can have the led be dimly on when the dashlights are on and then become brighter when the switch is turned on?
