Hello all, been a while since i built my rig in 2011. I fixed up some old speakers that are actually quite new just have been sitting in the closet because i broke the 3.5mm jack.
But i bought a replacement 3.5mm jack and cut the old one off and sodderd the new one on.

Heres my problem if i go to Control panel> hardware and sound>Manage audio devices under sound>right click speakers realtek hd audio> configure>

If i click on the left speaker nothing happens, if i click on the right speaker both the left and right speaker play audio as well as the bass. I have no clue what that means so i was wondering if someone could help me.

I can play videos just fine just all the speakers play but there is no situational awareness in games like Call of duty or Battlefield because you don't know if the enemy shots are coming from left or right.

Thanks! Noah

Solution
I suspect you are still wiring something incorrectly.
The long stem is the common or ground to which the cable shielding (if present) should be connected or the common wire if no shielding.
The connector that is in the very center is the tip and the left wire should be connected here.
The other connector which is slightly off center is the ring and the right wire is connected to this.

You could try desoldering all the wires and removing them from the plug.
Now plug the bare plug into your PC.
Touch one wire to the ground stem and one wire to the center connector on the plug and use realtek to put sound through the left speaker .
If you hear sound through the left speaker you have it right,if you hear sound through the right speaker...
Hi
Probably to do with you soldering on a new 3.5mm plug, the right speaker wire in the plug appears to be connected to both the right and left connections and the left wire is not connected at all.
It is a TRS (stereo) plug you used and not a TS plug (mono).

if the left wire was not connected at all wouldnt it not have sound comming out of it? becuase it does have sound coming out of it when i test the right speaker.

When i test the right speaker all the speakers come on, if i test the left speaker nothing comes on.

On thinking about it you are right, the left and right wires must be connected to the right connection of the plug .
Do you have two wires connected together in the plug and one of the connections in the plug with no wire to it.
There should be three connections inside the plug for the tip(Left),ring(Right) and the sleeve(common).

looking at the picture, they have black soderd to the middle and white sodered to the outside.

I have red (Which should be right speaker) sodderd to the middle and white sodered on the outside.

so i think its backward?

Okay i solderd and reqired the 3.5mm jack now when you individually test the left speaker all the speakers come on and when you test the right speaker nothing happens.

So its now just opposite of what it was doing. all playing when test right speaker now all speakers play when testing left speaker lol

Im confused 😛

If you hear sound through the left speaker you have it right,if you hear sound through the right speaker then the wire you have touching the center connector belongs on the right (off center) connector.
If you do not hear anything then the two wires are the Left and Right signal cables and you need to take the one off the long ground stem and the wire you have not connected must be the ground.

Solution
Well i have tried both ways.

Soldering the right speaker to the center pin and the left speaker to the outside pin. When i test in realtek left and right speaker nothing happens when the left is tested but all of them turn on when i test right speaker.

So i solderd them the opposite way and same thing happens just vice versa.

If i was to go on youtube and watch a movie i get sound from both right and left speaker and the bass but if somone was to yell through the right speaker all the speakers yell but if somone yelled into the left speaker absolutly no sound happens.

As of right now the red wire (assuming it is right speaker) is solderd to the outside pin the ring.

The white wire (assuming it is the left speaker) is solderd to the centre the tip.

and there soldered the common /ground.

Maby its broken internally? in the bass were all the wire go to before going to the pc

Since you have tried every wiring option we have to reluctantly discount the plug as the problem.
Both of the speakers work so these must be ok.
That leaves the bass unit.the speakers are working in mono from one input and not at all from the other input.
Are there any controls on the bass unit, especially a mono/stereo switch.

If you can get access to the inside of the bass unit it may be worth a look at the internal wiring to see if you can see any problems like loose or touching wires.
The actual amplifiers must be ok as both speakers and the bass unit work.
