Legacy Build Questions

Hi there...

I'm looking to build a new machine around a legacy program that I use professionally, as well as some components I use. I need to turn my i7 860 ASUS P7P55D build into my backup machine with this new build.

My requirements are:

1 PCI slot
i7 Chip
Windows 7 Professional 64bit

Any suggestions as to Motherboards that I should/can look at that are currently available? I started a build at PCPartsPicker, but since I chose Windows 7 at the outset, it somehow did not flag me for compatibility when I was using a Gigabyte z370 HD3P as my basis. Once I did deeper research, I realized there may be problems.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The reason it did not flag it is because it is possible, but not easy to use Windows 7 -- From the FAQ for that motherboard -- https://www.gigabyte.com/Support/FAQ/3459

Thanks for the response. The more I poke around, the more I realize I need a z270 and a 6th gen chip, for ease. So far, it seems like ASUS boards will work with the least amount of pain.
