Question Legion Y540 DC Jack issues

I noticed that my charging would cut out occasionally. In addition, the part of the charging cable that connects to the laptop would feel hot. Eventually, my laptop wouldn't charge at all.
So, I narrowed the issue down to the DC jack, the part soldered on the motherboard. I got a replacement dc jack, and soldered the replacement back on at a computer repair shop. This seemed to fix the issue.

However, a few weeks later, I am seeing the same symptoms again. So, now, I'm thinking there could be a few issues, but I'm not sure how to go about determining the root cause: Maybe the replacement part was a dud (not sure how likely this is because the part worked for a few weeks), maybe the charging cable is broken, causing the dc jack to also break, or maybe there's another issue, on the laptop side that's causing the dc jack to malfunction.

Have you guys ever encountered this issue with the legion y540 or other laptops?

The issue you've stated has been seen on some older laptop whereby the solution was to replace the entire power input, then the power brick and then the battery. How old is your Lenovo? Does the issue you speak of crop up when you're gaming or when sing the laptop as usual?

In the interim period, check and see if the laptop has any BIOS updates pending.

Thank you for your reply! There does seem to be a bios update, it was recently released, Jan 29, 2021. Do you think this might be the issue?
My laptop is a little bit over a year old (I purchased it new October 2019.
The issue is most noticeable when I am gaming, since I observe fps drops, however, I do notice that the power cable connector is not as hot when I am not gaming.
However, before I replaced the dc jack, the issue would progressively get worse, until my laptop could not charge at all (while gaming or otherwise).
If this helps, I have added an extra 16 gb ram stick. I added the stick in early Dec 2020, and the issue Im describing started manifesting around mid Jan 2021.
