Like all of these 'conversions' that do not use an intermediate focus screen (e.g. the I'm Back) and just shove a bare mobile sensor onto the focal plane of a random film camera, the sensor crop makes this very difficult to use in practice. e.g. mounting an ultra-wide-angle 21mm lens becomes the equivalent of a 115mm telephoto.

I've owned a Leica M2, and I find this mod to be a bit disgraceful.

Without a lens, you'd risk getting dust into the internal mechanism. And without a lens, you'd lose a lot of functionality as well.
