I have a Lenovo all-in-one desktop computer running Windows 10. I turn off only the display at night, not a full "computer shut down". I have the computer set to run updates in the middle of the night but lately the screen keeps turning back on, eventually it does turn off again. Not sure if this is related to updates. I looked at the power settings and I have everything set to "turn off display" when I push the power button. I changed it to "sleep" but it still keeps coming back on. Any advice? Thanks from Brooklyn NY.

Windows Update can cause the screen to turn on during reboots and the rest of the installation process. The PC is technically still on with the sleep, turn off display option, and locking the screen. With these options, any movement on the mouse or keyboard will cause the screen to turn on. It’s also possible that notifications will turn it on too though I’ve never tested.

My habit is to do a shutdown if I won’t use the PC for more than one day. If I plan to use it again the next day, I use the hibernate option.

As for updates, they aren’t every night. If you check once a week and run them, it should complete depending on your settings.

This didn't work, it's still coming back on. I really don't want to turn the computer off every night, any alternatives?

I live in a large apartment building in Brooklyn, I think you are right, some kind of vibration is turning it back on.
