Lenovo battery says 40% charge then suddenly turns off saying it is on 6% charge? Is there anything wrong with my battery?

Sounds like your battery is shot, this can happen over time depending on the quality of the battery and usage. You will need to purchase a new battery for your system. I would advise against really cheap batteries as they will suffer the same or worse issues.

Hi thank you for your answer! I will recalibrate through the Gauge Rest in the Energy Manager, as I think that is the system to recalibrate on my laptop. How do I disable Sleep and Power off beforehand? Do I need to do this before running the Gauge Reset?

Thanks!!

tejimthrowniy,
you should stop plagiarizing other peoples tutorials and passing them off as your own contribution.

als85,
Snipergod87's post has hit the mark. If your lappy is yet within warranty period you may be able to get in contact with Lenovo and see if they can replace the battery for you. In any case if you're finding a hard time finding a replacement battery you could also try contacting Lenovo to see if they have a battery in stock. Ofc you also have the DIY approach of hunting for the battery yourself :) ... ?

Thank you for your reply!

I think I will just take it back and ask for a replacement, as it is brand new I have only had it since Christmas.

Hopefully the just change it in the shop I bought it from, although I have a feeling they will make me try recalibrating it first or advise me to contact Lenovo myself. It definitely shouldn't just be switching off when it has 40% battery left!

You're welcome! Oh and where are my manners? Welcome to Tom'sHardware, als85 :)

You may right but remind them that you as a customer have more priority than to waste your time on a product advertised to work out of the box....or just say the customer is always right :p

Being polite afterwards may help - lol, I'm just pulling your leg. Let us know how it goes :D
