Lenovo G50 memory upgrade

I have this laptop and I'm looking to upgrade the memory. It says max memory supported is 8GB, but it has two slots, and i know they make 8GB sticks, so what would happen if i put two 8's in it to upgrade to 16 GB?

What they mean when they say 8Gb max supported is that is the total system memory you can have. That is, in your case, 2 x 4Gb sticks. The system will not support 8Gb in one slot.
