I have a Lenovo G505S, the CPU frequency was stuck to 1.9 GHz, I tried to overclock it with AMDdrive but this is not possible I set a higher frequency and this is somehow rejected, I installed Lenovo power management and switched it to high performance the frequency immediately turned into 2.3 GHz but after some time is stuck to 1.77 GHz, I de-activated turbo-core and went to 1.86 GHz, how can I overclock my laptop to work at 2.3 GHz to 2.8 GHz as the manufacturer states?

The CPU throttling down is perfectly normal when the PC is not under a heavy load (under 30-40%). It's a feature to save power called Enhanced Intel Speed Step or EIST for short. Start several program and then launch you Task Manager and you will see the CPU frequency ramp up as the CPU load increases.

If you're running Windows then just go to Adjust Power Settings and under Set Power Plan choose High Performance. You may also have to edit the Advanced Power Settings and set the Minimum Processor State to 100% under Processor Power Management.

I haven't had an AMD CPU in over a decade, so I don't now what BIOS options control speed-step / turbo-boost for AMD boards. I'm guessing your missing an option in the BIOS to override throttling.

Don't understand why minimum processor state set to 100 in Windows didn't force the CPU to run at, well, 100%. Your CPU does run at max frequency when under load, right?
