HI, i have recently purchased lenovo g585 with amd apu e-300 1.3ghz dual core cpu, amd radeon 6310hd graphics 4gb ram and 500gb hdd. i just want to know that can i replace my cpu with a quad core one?
I have the same laptop as him and the answer was incorrect. the cpu can be upgraded however you have to stick in the Brazos family of apu or an intel i7 at 1.3 ( any higher and your pc wont boot ) and you have to make sure the motherboard supports it. I have mine running an intel i7 at 1.3 ghz I tried amd a10 and the mobo wont support it. the cpu is not soldered on the board however it is a bxxxx to get at but once you do ( youll notice it ) it can be lifted up from its pins. don't force and don't use accessive force. Also know that once it is done your warranty with Lenovo will be voided as they don't support the upgrade.
