I am reinstalling a three year old Lenovo ideapad z370 for my daughter. It is largely unused and I dont believe its been plugged in in the past two years. The battery doesnt hold any charge and wont charge. But BatteryInfoView reports the battery to be in good shape with a 99% battery health. Is there a trick or something I can do to bring it back, or do I have to get a new battery?

Solution
if the voltage of a laptop lithium-ion cell drops below a certain level esp for a long period unused, it's ruined. Lithium-ion batteries age. they only last 2 to 10 years depending on the quality, even if they are sitting on a shelf unused. best to keep it half-charged unused next time. the battery will lose like 5% charge per month unused.

you can try your luck with some of the wiki hacks below

Thanks, yeah I believe this is the case however I find it odd that BatteryInfoView reports the battery as healthy. Off to buy a new one then.
