Lenovo-Installed sound drivers but there is no sound

I have lenovo lap top designed for windows xp, 1.86Ghz.I have now windows 7 home edition but not even after downloading couple drivers,codecs I dont have sound.On icone on volume it shows that there is device,active,and playing...It drives me crazy...Please help!!!

Try headphones? Did the sound work before you installed windows 7? Were the drivers that you installed for Windows 7?
