News Lenovo Legion Go 2 prototype spotted ahead of launch in China — Ryzen Z2 and OLED display reportedly complemented by 1TB SSD, 32GB RAM, and more

"Lenovo now faces devices that offer deeper Xbox integration and potentially a more polished software with broader out-of-the-box compatibility with Game Pass and Windows features."

OK, who actually WANTS Windows on one of these things? Given that the OS cripples performance, I would bet not many do. Gamepass integration? HARD pass...especially since it doesn't offer Xbox game compatibility (just plays the Windows version)...unless you STREAM the game (YUCK).

Lenovo is doing the best thing they can...offer an ALTERNATIVE to Windows gaming with SteamOS. If a gamer "needs" Gamepass or Windows, let them shop with the competition. The market has shown that Xbox (and Windows itself) are dead ends. Hell, even if it does launch with Windows, I would bet money that the majority of users would install SteamOS anyway!

Whats the point of this if it still runs the same GPU as the Legion Go 1? By all accounts the new Qualcomm 8 Elite in Lenovo's cheaper android tablet runs desktop games, in Android (emulated via winlator) at higher FPS than the 780m, and at like 7 watts. Its also cheaper and is a functional android tablet for non-gaming (or android gaming) activities. Its also like 1/4 the weight/thickness and has an integrated controller you can get.

"But game compatibility" Its rumored that Valve is coming out with a new Android App that emulates x86 on android, so you can access your steam library for many games without having to dump the files and somehow get around DRM (how Winlator works). It should get here around the same time as the Half-Life 3 release.

1600p IPS vs. 1200p OLED
49Whr vs. 75Whr battery
2242 vs. 2280 ssd
The latter two can be modded with parts off of aliexpress or similar, but is a little janky.

As for Winlator, I'm looking into it myself. It looks promising, but it looks even more beta than gaming on Mac.

I highly doubt a SD 8 Elite beats a Ryzen Z1X. (I would love to see someone reputable give it a review and comparison)
The bigger battery on Y700 (2025) is nice, but the 256GB storage is not upgradeable. It'd be amazing if it was.

Again, the most important part of the device is the CPU/GPU, and its practically the same as the chip that came out two years ago. Now that Nintendo can meet or even exceed the z1 extreme in performance (at 1/3 of the watts) and Valve might be releasing their Steam app for Android soon. I don't doubt that actively cooled gaming phones (like the RedMagic ones) using proton instead of Windows emulation will outperform the 780m easily.

I do, as I'd also dock it and do some work/writing/editing etc. Plug straight into my projector and add an x-box controller. A nice, little, portable windows machine that does more than gaming.

Thanks.
Laughable. You know you can do all of that and NOT use Windows, right? The SteamDeck (and Lenovo Legion Go S) have a desktop mode, and you can run plenty of good productivity software on those too. You don't NEED the Windows malware infecting your system (and knocking 20%+ off your performance in gaming!).

You're right, EXCEPT the Arch/pacman repos have been replaced by who knows what by Valve, probably now pointing at a bunch of mirrors, making it impossible to get any actual work done haha.

Its easy enough to load Bazzite or another distro on it if you really want to. I think you are trying to pick nits here.

A "normal" person isn't going to want to (nor have the technical capability) to dual boot OSes. The beauty of SteamOS for handhelds is that its even easier to use for gaming than android, windows, etc.

A "normal" person isn't going to bitch about the Arch distros in the first place. They will just search for answers online about how to do things with their hardware and software and then do it. Your argument is meaningless.
