If it has an i5 or an i7, then that would be pretty good price. It doesn't specify what CPU(s) is(are) available for it, only that is uses Intel Core CPUs, so we shouldn't knock it at least until we have more information.

Acer says:-
Acer has seemingly been the only OEM highly vocal about the tablets, saying that Microsoft is making a mistake and that Surface will hurt its partners
Or in other words:-
We simply can't make anything of that quality and our cheap tacky shit will stick out like a sore thumb

However, Lenovo says:-
We are still confident that we are providing much better hardware than our competitors including Microsoft
Which means:-
We are very confident that we are providing much, much, MUCH better hardware than Acer

It has a keyboard on the other side of that hinge, it's an convertable 13.3" Ultrabook running a Core i5, 8Gb ram and 256Gb SSD
...
$1200 is very realistic and certainly a lot better than the crap Acer has just pooped out
http://www.tomshardware.com/news/Aspire-S7-Acer-Ultrabook-Windows-8-Ivy-Bridge,16833.html
Touch based Ultrabook with smaller 11.6" screen, but not convertable
4Gb ram, half that of the Lenovo
128Gb SSD, half that of the Lenovo
All for the tiny sum of $1465
...
And if you want to match the screen, ram and SSD expect to pay a serious premium and it STILL isn't a convertable
...
Acer has seriously misread this whole play and in today's well informed world it is not going to fly with anyone

If MS didn't release Windows rt then what competition would there be?

Well some of these oems are already 'in' a market with their Android tablets so in reality there's no market to join with regards to Windows RT. There's not much to moan about and if MS 'creates' a new segment then all these oems can jump straight in with the next 'upgraded' models. Stylus, higher res, bits and bobs. Win win if you ask me. Nothing to complain about

I don't feel that Acer should panic. The Microsoft tablet is expensive, and Acer makes cheap crap. It's amusing that most of the quality makers that they are competing with don't seem phased at all.

[citation][nom]livebriand[/nom]Acer makes crap, and that's why they have to worry about this. Lenovo doesn't, so it's no wonder that they're not too concerned.[/citation]

Its been a long time since Acer made only "crap" - I picked up one of their budget laptops with a Radeon 5650 and it's standing up better than a HP I paid double that for.

Making crap and making crap that is better than HP are two entirely different things. Beyond that, laptops and tablets aren't the same and being made by the same company doesn't mean that they'd be built with the same quality.

That's because Acer makes crap and HP makes diarrhea

I laughed out loud when they say they'll make better hardware than MS. Every single OEM will HALF-ASS the windows 8 tablets and Microsoft will easily take the throne

I agreed. ACER makes shitty hardware. Lenovo makes solid stuff. Just bought a Lenovo lappy a month ago. Love it. The keyboard is definitely the best in the market.

As an owner of multiple Lenovo thinkpad and ideapad laptops, I am rather excited to see what Lenovo comes up with. I honestly don't care about it being a convertible because I use Logitech's unifying receiver to switch between multiple multi-monitor setups at home and in the office so I'm not sure this will be for me as I'd rather just have the tablet on the go (without the bulk of a full keyboard) and then dock the thing at my workstations. I suppose the Microsoft Surface keyboard cover is what most intrigues me about using windows 8 on a tablet as it serves the dual purpose of cover and a slim keyboard on the go if absolutely necessary. I guess I'll have to see how bulky the keyboard is before I can commit to this thing.

don't know about most but the last cheap lenovo table i had in had impressed me a lot, it was working extremely well for its specs and the build quality was good, only thing i hate(d) was the Alps touchpad.

Weak interest for win8 on the desktop and laptop from both the consumer and manufacturer. Microsoft is leveraging manufacturers in the only field where win8 makes sense, the tablet. I imagine the licensing for tablets will be horrendous, and third parties have two options: Get forced out of the windows tablet market OR pay whatever ridiculous licensee fee Microsoft demands. It's win win for microsoft. It's desperate and blatant. None of Microsofts OEM partners even KNEW about Surface before ms announced it. Just grasping at straws to make money off the windows that nobody wants.
