Lenovo ram upgrade

i have a lenovo x201 who needs some new Ram.

Can i put 2x pc3-12800 4 gb in it? ( i Know the max ram is 8 gb) it currently runs on 1 pc3-10600 and 1 pc3-8500.

I doubt it. More of the online memory retailers are mentioning upto 1333MHz only. If you do not need the memory urgently then try installing PC3-12800 (1600MHz) memory. If it works then well and good, if it doesn't you can RMA it and get PC3-10600 instead.
