Hello all,
I have a Lenovo st250 server at a clients and it had issues crashing on and off I did a hardware test and one of the memory sticks was bad. I ordered new memory but I wanted to take it from 64Gb (4x16) to 128 (4x32) The first 128 gb kit I bought i thought for sure I had matched to the memory out for the system, according to what I thought the old memory was and research online from Lenovo it was udimm. I put the memory in the server and it crashed after I left and I thing again the next day then went over a week with now issues, then a week then couldn't stay running for more than an hour. Hardware test showed no issues with the memory. I put the old memory back in - the bad stick and it run fine. I looks the original memory up again and information said its rdimm. Positive that wasn't what I read before I ordered that. Put that in the server and it boot looped 6-7 times then did nothing. Put old memory back in works fine.
What am I missing?
Board should support the 128. I've tried firmware updates. I was able to update the X-clarity firmware but the UEFI kept claiming any version was incompatible then I tried again a couple weeks late and it said incompatible file type.
I love Lenovo products but this thing has been a bear.
Attached is the Lenovo memory and the 2 replacements I bought

According to Lenovo the ST250 V1 supports only UDIMM memory, and the Crucial RAM you installed is RDIMM, which is likely why the system failed to boot.

Not sure why the Nemix RAM didn't work since it's UDIMM, but it might be worth testing each stick individually to make sure none of them are defective. Don't know the brand, it's possible that it could have a compatibility issue with the ST250 even though it's the correct specifications. If it's still giving you trouble after testing them all, maybe switch back to brands such as Crucial, SK Hynix, or Samsung.

Lenovo also has a forum page for product support, you could ask about the UEFI issue you had.
