Lenovo Thinkpd W541 will not power up, power LED blinks 3 times

Lenovo Thinkpd W541 will not power up, power LED blinks 3 times. Have tried to disconnect CMOS battery, Memory and Harddisk. Still same issue.
Any suggestions?

Is the battery removeable and have you taken it out to test on mains electricity alone? Also test that the electricity supply is working by plugging,say, a radio.

Yes mains tested alone (battery is removable), mains is OK. alternative charger tested. battery tested alone. All with pushing power button in for 30s. Tested bios battery removed and put in again. Tested without bios battery, without memory and without harddisk. Still same issue; LED blinking 3 times, PC not starting.

I wonder if the BIOS went down when the CMOS battery was out so check in the BIOS that the target drive where the system lives is the one BIOS is looking for a bootable system.

Thanks for suggestion, but how can I check the BIOS when the PC does not power up?

Sorry, I got muddled up there. Try removing one RAM stick one at a time, assuming more than one. Sometimes that can cause this problem.
