I am choosing a monitor for myself now and I consider Lenovo ThinkVision LT2452p 24". How good is it?

When thinking of hardware I consider Lenovo. I'm fairly happy with my Lenovo USB keyboard that I use with my laptop when at home, now I'm thinking about new monitor too.

I'm not tracking the current developments in monitors in general, let alone Lenovo monitors, but I appreciate quality. My brother bought Dell U2711 (approx. $900+) in October 2010, back when they were new and we're both still thrilled about it (though I read about problems like uneven brightening, I couldn't see any). Now can I buy a monitor of similar quality for much less (especially if I'm willing to go down in display size)? This one seems to cost seems a bit over $400.

I know you lioke your Lenovo keyboard but that doesn't mean they make a great monitor, there's a big difference between a keyboard and a monitor. I like to stay with companies that will specialize in a product and are well known for it.
Like SeaSonic power supplies , G-Skill ram.
Some companies will do great on two products , like Samsung Tv's and monitors , along with flash memory (SSD) and that's because they actually do manufacture thier own products.

If your looking for a good monitor I would look at Samsung , Lg , Dell and Asus.

The price of the Lenovo is a bit high and for that price I would be expecting a 27" monitor. It does have a good panel (IPS) and good connectivity and all the other bells and whistles but the price is a bit high.

I take your point with regard to SeaSonic power supplies, and G-Skill RAM: there's no point in finding comparing products from the companies that don't specialize in the area. On the other hand though, if I were say a fan of Samsung and I was ok with generic RAM, I could be served well by Samsung's RAM.

From what I heard, Lenovo LT2452p monitor is very similar (price included) to Dell U2412m which seem to be a fine monitor. If there are better options for similar price, and if I can afford a bigger monitor, please tell me which would you advise: that's why I am asking here.

And why exactly are they better? As far as I can see, those are 1920x1080 cheap TN screens (some of them glossy), aren't they?

I'm still not convinced that those panels are better. They are 1920x1080 vs 1920x1200 LT2452p / Dell U2412m. 27" vs 24" is not such a big difference, and I'd prefer to not drop below 1200 vertical pixels, if possible.

Regarding the display quality, how does one decide between models?
