lenovo vs dell laptop?

Hi,

I've already have the Dell latitude E6530, pretty old laptop but pretty fast with my ssd upgrade and 4 cores and 8 threads but it is pretty used now and I have some problems with it. I would like to buy a lenovo from my cousin, 2 years old, pretty good but not sure if it is faster, stronger than mine, I m not really good about pc so maybe you could help me?

Hello James,

1. You said you "have some problems" with your current Dell E6530; could you expand a bit on those problems? (Mechanical or software).

2. The Dell is certainly "pretty old" (from around 2013) so any new or even a 2 years old laptop will be noticeably quicker and more efficient on many counts such as battery life and WiFi speed.

3. The Lenovo ThinkBook referenced in your link uses an 8th-gen quad-core i7 CPU running from 1.8 to 4.6GHz with a TDP of 15W. Lenovo themselves claim "up to 10 hours" of battery life, while real-life usage will probably land somewhere around 7 to 8 hours.

4. The ThinkBook also comes with 16GBs of RAM, although it is a single , soldered module and it is the maximum capacity. A single 16GB module is not as efficient as 2 8GBs modules, but that's what Lenovo decided to go with. Using DDR4 modules, it will offer significantly more useable memory compared to a 2013 8GB laptop using DDR3 modules.

5. All in all, if you can get a good deal on the ThinkBook from your cousin, it is definitely a worthy replacement to your Dell.

As well as 2 custom built rigs i have a lenovo ideapad , it is a very good piece of kit but i would recommend you get rid of the vantage pre-installed software it is a paid in the butt.
Just run it once to update everything then uninstall it , if you want it back at a later date you can download it again.
Make sure you put the slider across at the top to make your camera blind folded.
Go into windows settings and make sure the microphone is really off if you dont intend using it because lenovo said mic off , windows settings say mic on.
The reason i say this is a security issue , i bet you speak out load your passwords and bank details as your typing them in.
