Lenovo Y40-80 Questions

Hey Guys,

I just purchased a Lenovo Y40-80 for $899 with the following specs:

Processor -5th Generation Intel Core i7-5500U Processor (2.40GHz 1600MHz 4MB)
Operating system- Windows 8.1 64
Display- 14.0" FHD LED AntiGlare (1920x1080)
Graphics- AMD Radeon R9 M275 4GB
Memory- 16.0GB PC3-12800 DDR3L 1600 MHz
Hard Drive- 1TB 5400 RPM+8GB SSHD
Network Card- Intel® Dual Band Wireless-AC 3160
Bluetooth- Bluetooth Version 4.0


I have the following Questions:

-Will it run Planetside 2, TF2, Skyrim (With Mods), and Elite: Dangerous?
-Does it finally have a backlit keyboard?
-Is it a good computer for the price, or did I make a bad decision?
-Can it run Minecraft FTB Infinity 1.7.10
-Do you have any benchmarks for the pc?

Isn't it a bit strange you're asking us after the fact? Why not just wait and try it?

I think you'll run those games yes. But I wouldn't expect 60 FPS on ultra.

I just wanted to confirm what I had been reading on other websites since not all of them had accurate responses

Mate, the CPU's strong but the GPU is in no way not. It's a low-class one. Thankfully Planetside 2 is CPU bound so you should have no problems there, but the GPU compares to a measly desktop R7 240-250. About the other games, you will have a bit of a struggle but all I can say now in terms of "struggle" is that you could expect medium-ish settings on 45 fps avg on most games (a rough estimate).

For $899 there's nothing you can really do about it though. The laptop's just as is.

Well hopefully it will work out okay. I have a gaming desktop, I just wanted a laptop that I could run 3d modeling software and some games on the road. Most games I see can be run around 45 FPS on benchmark sites.

For such tasks, an i7 would be ideal.
