Does anyone know how to overclock an Lenovo Y40? I tried MSI afterburner but I couldn't get it to work. Thank you for all the suggestions.

Graphics Card:
AMD Radeon R9 M275

CPU:
Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4500U CPU @ 1.80GHz

I will highly discourage any attempts to overclock that laptop. Start with a thermal monitoring program like CoreTemp http://www.alcpu.com/CoreTemp/ or HWMonitor http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/hwmonitor.html then run a stressing program like Prime95 http://www.mersenne.org/download/ or Intel Burn Test http://intelburntest.en.lo4d.com/ - you should find you have very little thermal headroom available to overclock (if any).
Your best bet IMO is to use the available Turbo mode to allow clocks to boost when needed and run in High Performance power setting. I will also recommend using a cooling pad when gaming to prevent (or decrease the likelihood of) thermal throttling.
