Just for fun I wanted to see how high I could overclock my Lenovo Y500 screen, from the default 60hz I overclocked it to 120hz without any problems no artifacts or black screen. Is this normal for laptop screens? my desktop monitors can only be set to 78hz from 60hz. Is there a chance that Lenovo put 120hz monitors in the Y500s and just underclocked and sold them as 60hz?

It is my understanding that even if your lcd panel will take an "overclock" it is just dropping the frames it cannot display anyway. It may say that it is showing you 120Hz, but I think you will find it can only actually draw a screen at the rate it is clocked for from the factory. In fact, this could potentially make gaming less successful with dropped frames and a perception of lag.
