Lenovo Y510p- does it have internal space for a second storage drive?

Hi, I was wondering if the Lenovo Y510p I recently bought with a standard 1tb 5400 rpm hard drive would have space to internally store an ssd as well. If not, would it be advisable to possibly migrate my data and os to an external usb 3.0 ssd?

You can't have the OS on an external device. From what I've read the Y510P does not have a dual bay system, rather when they include the "24GB SSD" I believe it's an mSATA cache drive. Their UltraBay option turns the optical drive space into a second gpu space.

I recently purchased an HP dv7t-7000 laptop for a coworker, and it does come with dual bays, but you have to buy the 2nd drive caddy separate (like $40, nothing crazy).
It can be done with some systems but normally at the expense of your optical drive. Put an SSD in for your main drive. This is an awesome upgrade that delivers huge performance gains. Then use an external drive over USB for storage. Make sure you get a 256 GB (or whatever is closest) for your SSD.
