Lexmark 83

I have a Lexmark 83 printer and it has been working fine with my
computer (Windows XP Home). Suddenly it won't print and the message
says it is not connected properly. I checked and rechecked and
uninstalled and reinstalled the printer but continue to get the same
message. My only thought is that I installed Service Pack 2 - could
that be the problem? If not, does anyone have any thoughts?
