Question Lexmark laser printer won't recognize toner cartridge

I have a Lexmark C2425 laser printer. I recently got a new black toner cartridge, which worked fine at first, but then I got a "Replace black cartridge, 0 pages remaining" error, and I knew I hadn't printed nearly enough pages that it should be empty yet. I tried basic stuff (unplugging the printer, cleaning the contacts, shaking the cartridge) without any luck. I spoke to a Lexmark tech support person, who didn't really give me any additional troubleshooting steps to try but did send me a new cartridge, but I'm still having the same issue. I'm always using genuine Lexmark toner, and I'm running Windows 10.

However, where did you purchase that Lexmark toner cartridge?

You may have been sold a defective or counterfeit toner cartridge.

And maybe the seller did not even know......

Take a close look at the cartridge and compare what you see to online images of the same cartridge.

Anything different or otherwise amiss?

I use a reputable site called Blue Dog Ink that I've used for years without any problem, and the toner always comes fully enclosed in Lexmark boxes. I am now using a cartridge that is directly from Lexmark, sent to me after I talked with a tech support person on the Lexmark site, and having the same issue.

Did tech support ask about or otherwise mention the toner chip?

At least check the firmware version and investigate the toner chip to learn more about the printer.

Then discuss further with Lexmark tech support. Especially if a new cartridge was not being recognized.
