Needing Windows 7 drivers for my XP only Lexmark Z53 printer, I see the Z52 listed instead in Printer Driver list in Add Printer, after selecting Windows Update and waiting awhile. These are not XP drivers left in spool - I never downloaded anything Z52. Lexmark provides an XP-era Z52 Color Jetprinter driver. Can I just use that?

Through way too much time spent I find that the XP drivers for the Z53, including LexBCE Server Service (that Print Spooler is made dependent on), do install readily and print nothing.

Solution
"After manually downloading the XP drivers for your device, locate the driver/installer and.." does not work here, since no Installer is provided. The printer drivers folder is pointed to via Add Printer per Lexmark's XP Install Instructions.

Lexmark Z52 (Win 2000 - Win NT - Win XP) has working Windows 7 drivers provided via Windows Update so I now have a "Lexmark Z52 Color Jetprinter" printing away. At least I thought I did! Now missing the LexBCE Server Service and bi-directional support is grayed out.
The Test Page will print after installing, then nothing.

SOLVED: I simply repeated the above for Windows 10 (32 bit only) and am happily printing away with a "Lexmark Z52".
You can try and install your XP only drivers for your devices using the compatibility feature within the OS.

After manually downloading the XP drivers for your device, locate the driver/installer and
Right click installer>Compatibility tab>Windows XP (from drop down menu)
