I was looking at new monitors for an upcoming build. All I can really say they will likely be using the GTX 1080 and I7-6700k. I have done some searching and around $500-$600 seems like a good price range and I round two that seemed competitive to each other. I am not sure what would be a better purchase between these two or if there are any other choices that make more sense out there.
The biggest differences I see for these similarly priced (for now) monitors is resolution 2k (S2716DG) vs 4k, Gsync (S2716DG), and 144hz ( S2716DG) vs 60hz.
I'm pretty sure gaming will mostly be at 1440p so 4k would be only for the occasional game (but might be nice for other applications like video editing)

For the most part it seems like the DELL S2716DG 27" would fill the average needs but the Dell S2817Q Black 28" is (currently) competitive price wise with some interesting differences.
