I've basically bought everything for a new build including an EVGA GeForce GTX 970 04G-P4-2976-KR. I'm waiting on the i5-6600k to go on sale on newegg.

Now I need a monitor. I run dual acer 23.5" 16:9's at church and like the size of those. For a brief time newegg had the lg 34um95-P with a PS4 for 899. I was going to sell the PS4 to off set my cost. But i bought it from the wrong damn seller on there and it didnt come with PS4 from them. So back to the seller its going.

I'm still looking at those ultrawide 21:9 34" monitors and now newegg is running the lg 34um67-p for 399 until tomorrow night. I'm planning on running my gpu with display port anyways and this monitor supports freesync which from my understanding is only for display port. But I've also read that freesync is really on for AMD gpu and I won't really see any improvements.

I can't return my card as its exchange for same item only on newegg. When I type in gsync 34" monitor, I get that bad ass ACER predator and the one from ASUS thats about to come out. I cant swing $1200 for a monitor. Maybe $600. Really didn't plan on going much over $500.

There arent any stores around my house that have a 34" monitor with the 3440x1440 or the 2560 x 1080 resolutions that I can check out and compare. I have 2 really crappy 4:5 19 monitors I can suffer with for a few months. Should I go ahead and get the lg 34um67 thats on sale for the $400 or is there anything better for about $600 now?

I did see this Dell monitor on amazon for $750.

I dont change monitors that often either.

Actually I would suggest the other way round: don't get G-Sync monitor if going with AMD as the extra cost of G-Sync monitor over FreeSync equivalent would be completely wasted. There are very few (if any) monitors that has G-Sync and no FreeSync equivalent model.

FreeSync monitors are usually cheaper than their G-Sync equivalents (For example, MG279Q vs XB270HU, or XB280HK vs U28D590D), and sometimes those monitors don't have older non Free-or-G Sync variants, so I wouldn't be bothered too much about pairing a FreeSync monitor with an nVidia GPU, it'll just become a fix refresh monitor.

And, I believe nVidia will support FreeSync themselves before allowing AMD GPU's to support G-Sync, but that's my belief.

If you want variable refresh rate, and you have a Nvidia GPU, you have to get G-sync. FreeSync may become the standard for variable refresh rate panels, but until then you have to get G-sync for VRR on Nvidia,.

I ended up getting the lg 34um67-P and Im just going to keep the graphics card for now. Not really a big deal at the moment. I'm sure running the monitor on this GPU will still beat running it on the 6600k. After I get more money, I'll just donate this card to our church computer and get what ever is best at the $300-$350 at that time. The presentation software we use does not play nice with AMD GPUs, only Nvidia. I've got a refurbed GTX 750Ti in that one and I've got some weird issues that might be resolved with this card. I might test it on that one if I'm bored.

Gsync just isnt really out there for the 34" ultrawides and on the monitor it is on, its way above what I can justify on a monitor. I'll just wait to jump from the 2560x1080 to a curved 3440 x 1440 later on.
